Ingredients

Instructions- Oven & Air Fryer

Step 1: Defrost

  1. Remove the frozen black cod from the freezer and place it in the refrigerator overnight (approximately 8–12 hours).

  2. Once fully thawed, remove the packaging and gently wipe off any excess moisture.

  3. Keep refrigerated until ready to cook. Do not thaw at room temperature.

Method 1: Oven-Baked

Temperature            400°F (200°C)
Cooking time           12–18 minutes

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Place the thawed fillet skin-side down on a parchment-lined baking tray.

  3. Bake for 12–18 minutes, depending on thickness.

  4. Cook until the fish flakes easily and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).

For a caramelized finish, broil for the final 1–2 minutes, watching carefully to prevent the miso glaze from burning.

Method 2: Air Fryer

Temperature            375°F (190°C)
Cooking time           10–14 minutes

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Place the thawed fillet in the basket, skin-side down if applicable.

  3. Air fry for 10–14 minutes, depending on thickness.

  4. Check that the fish is fully cooked and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).

Cooking Tip
Cooking times may vary depending on fillet thickness and appliance. The miso glaze can brown quickly, so monitor during cooking and adjust the temperature if necessary.
Serving suggestion: Serve with steamed rice, sautéed vegetables, and sliced green onions for an easy Japanese-style meal.
